The most common question people ask about coupons is “do you really save money” and the simple answer is YES!  Here are some answers to the other questions I find family and friends asking me all the time.

1. Where do I find coupons?

You can find coupons just about everywhere that you look. Your Sunday newspaper, online, grocery stores, in your mailbox, on Facebook and even on your cell phone.

2. What do I do with all these coupons?

You save your coupons until you find the right sale. Cutting coupons out of the Sunday newspaper and using all those coupons that same day is not going to save you much money. Cutting coupons out of the Sunday newspaper and saving them until the right sale comes along will save you money.

Example:

You get a coupon for $1.00 off your favorite cereal in todays paper and the price for cereal today is $4.00. You are still going to pay $3.00 and only end up with a savings of $1.00

Next week cereal is on sale for $2.50 and you use your $1.00 off coupon. You are only going to pay $1.50 for that box of cereal with an overall savings of $2.50.

3. How do I keep track of my coupons?

I personally believe that having a organized system is the key to coupon success. Collecting hundreds of coupons to just toss them in a drawer is not going to help you when your looking at the store ads. You will not have any clue which coupons you have and don’t have.

I prefer the binder method for organizing my coupons. By using this system I can easily flip through my binder and see every single coupon that I have. I keep my coupons in baseball card inserts which you can find here and I also have my coupons broken down into categories.

4. How do I find the sales?

This is probably the easiest part of couponing. You can look at the store ads and do the match-ups yourself or you can look at websites that do the match-ups for you. One of my favorite coupon match-up sites is Coupon Mom. You can find all the best deals for national chains like WalMart, Target, CVS and much more. You can also find match-ups for stores in your state.
